Debates do Parlamento Europeu : a importância da cultura e da cooperação cultural para a identidade europeia - 1993-2004

Abstract

Compreender a génese e o desenvolvimento das políticas culturais da União Europeia após a base legal que lhes foi dada pelo Tratado de Maastricht é o principal objectivo deste trabalho, que começa por fazer uma análise dos relatórios e dos debates do Parlamento Europeu entre 1993 e 2004, procurando perceber qual é o papel que o Parlamento Europeu atribui à cultura, o processo negocial que deu origem às iniciativas culturais e os argumentos contra e a favor da cultura como elemento de integração e criação de uma identidade europeia. ABSTRACT; To comprehend the beginning and development of the cultural politics of the European Union after the legal basis given by the Maastricht Treaty is the main goal of this work, which begins with an analise of the reports and debates of the European Parliament between 1993 and 2004, trying to understand the role that this institution assigns to culture, the negotiation process that gave place to the cultural initiatives and the arguments for and against culture as an integration factor and the building of an European identity.
