Respostas neurofisiológicas à indução de experiências emocionais negativas e positivas: estudo piloto

Abstract

Na resposta à emoção, a interligação entre a atividade cortical e a expressão periférica, através da ação motora, encerra um valor adaptativo na relação do indivíduo com o meio. A interação mente-corpo encontra-se na base da prática psicomotora. Este estudo tem como objetivos analisar a influência de duas emoções, tristeza e divertimento, num músculo cervical, e conhecer a simultânea resposta neural durante a experiência emocional. Metodologia: foram utilizados 2 filmes positivos, negativos e neutros na indução emocional, registando-se a atividade cortical por eletroencefalografia, e sinal eletromiográfico do esternocleidomastóideo, bilateralmente, numa sessão. Resultados: numa amostra de 25 participantes saudáveis (16 mulheres, idade 29,68 ± 8,87), obteve-se uma variação significativa no estado emocional atual, confirmando a experiência emocional subjetiva. Na componente fisiológica não foram encontradas diferenças na atividade cortical entre condições (p > 0,05). No divertimento e neutro, a atividade muscular à esquerda foi significativamente diferente, sendo superior. Em estudos futuros pode investigar-se a influência da lateralidade na atividade muscular em resposta à emoção; ABSTRACT: NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSES TO NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES INDUCTION: A PILOT STUDY In emotion´s response, the interconnection between cortical activity and peripheral expression, through motor action, has an adaptive value in the individual´s relationship with the environment. The mind-body interaction is at the base of psychomotor practice. This study aims to analyze the influence of two emotions, sadness and amusement, in a cervical muscle, and to know the simultaneous neural response during the emotional experience. Methods: 2 positive, negative and neutral films were used in emotional induction, recording cortical activity by electroencephalography, and sternocleidomastoid electromyographic signal, bilaterally, in a single session. Results: in a sample of 25 healthy participants (16 women, mean age 29,68 ± 8,87), a significant variation in current emotional state was obtained, validating the subjective emotional experience. No differences were found in physiological component regarding cortical activity between conditions (p > 0,05). In amusement and neutral conditions, muscle activity on the left side was significantly different, being higher. Future research should investigate the influence of laterality on muscle activity in emotion´s response.
