Hortus catalogi, conceito e tipologia. Proposta de um centro de investigação e experimentação agrária para o monte de Santo Amador

Abstract

Este trabalho consiste em propor um centro de experimentação e investigação agrária no monte de Santo Amador, Reguengos de Monsaraz, fundamentado na transformação de um território de culturas de sequeiro para regadio, com a construção da barragem de Alqueva e na expansão do sistema de regadio a Norte de Alqueva, abrindo a implementação de novas culturas agrícolas, desconhecidas neste território. A procura de um conceito como o Hortus Catalogi, que caracteriza- se como um espaço de horta, onde a disposição de plantas hortícolas e árvores de fruto encontram-se catalogadas e expostas, com o propósito de demonstração, onde a práticas agrícolas e a atmosfera de um jardim unem-se sob o signo do conhecimento e maior relação com a paisagem. Esta investigação propõe encontrar ideias formais, estratégias de integração na paisagem e modos operativos de projectar um espaço de horta para pesquisa e experimentação agrícola, reabilitando o monte de Santo Amador com instalações de investigação e alojamento, reforçando a presença humana num território em mudança; Abstract: Hortus Catalogi, concept and typology. A project’s proposal of an agricultural experimentation and investigation center in monte de Santo Amador This present investigation proposes an agricultural investigation and experimental center for the estate of Santo Amador in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo. The implementation of a irrigation system, due to the construction of the Alqueva dam, changing this territory from dry farming to new agricultural cultures, needing spaces for research and development that helps this transformation. The concept of Hortus Catalogi, witch describes a vegetable garden, where the plants and trees are displayed and catalogued, with the purpose of research and investigate new techniques of practicing agriculture. These kind of spaces combine the characteristics of vegetable garden and a leisure garden, under the sign knowledge and deeper relation with the landscape. Therefore, this investigation proposes formal ways of conceiving a vegetable garden, strategy’s of integration in the landscape and operative ways of designing a garden for agricultural experimentation and research, revitalizing the Santo Amador estate with investigation facilities and lodging, reiforncing the human presence in a changing territory.
