Imaginário social e tecnologia: as figuras do imaginário tecnológico no cinema

Abstract

O imaginário é o conjunto das imagens e das relações de imagens que constituem o capital pensado do homo sapiens. Esta frase de Gilbert Durand resume o ponto de partida da minha investigação. De que forma o imaginário, através das suas formas mais representativas (os mitos, as lendas, os símbolos, etc.), se constrói como permanente fonte de influência e de inspiração para os homens? Como a sociedade pós-moderna se caracteriza por uma representação exacerbada da tecnologia, o imaginário, reabilitado no conhecimento, constitui uma fonte de saberes acerca da forma como pensamos, mas também como prevemos a nossa relação com a tecnologia. Nesse sentido, a potência da imagem cinematográfica permite identificar um possível jogo de influências entre as ditas noções; ### Abstract: Social imaginary and technology: the technological imaginary figures in cinema The imaginary is the whole of images (and image relationships too) that constitute the deliberate capital of homo sapiens. This sentence written by Gilbert Durand becomes the basis of my investigation. How the imaginary, through its most representative forms (myths, legends, symbols, etc.), constructs itself as a permanent source of influence and inspiration for the human kind? Once the postmodern society is characterized by an exacerbated representation of technology, the imaginary, rehabilitated in today's knowledge era, represents a source of knowledge on what and how we think about, but also on how we expect our relationship with technology to happen. In this sense, the power of the cinematic image identifies a possible set of influences between these notions.
