Entre a arriba e o rio. Intervenção na frente ribeirinha de Almada

Abstract

A frente ribeirinha norte de Almada, encontra-se enclausurada entre a arriba e o rio. Este lugar foi um ponto estratégico de forte actividade industrial. Hoje resta a paisagem privilegiada, algumas memórias e as ruínas. A localização privilegiada, frente à capital e junto ao Tejo, foi importante numa altura em que o rio era o principal meio de comunicação. Com a construção da Ponte 25 de Abril, o transporte rodoviário destronou o fluvial e este espaço tornou-se obsoleto. A margem almadense, apresenta-se como um lugar degradado, com uma imagem consideravelmente díspar em relação à margem norte, cuja valorização patrimonial e territorial se tem notado. A reconversão de espaços industriais degradados é fundamental para a identidade e desenvolvimento das cidades. Pretende-se com esta investigação compreender a lógica de crescimento do lugar, para reactivar a frente ribeirinha, incidindo no desenvolvimento projectual da regeneração social, económica e cultural da Quinta da Arealva; Between the Cliff and the River. Intervention on the waterfront of Almada. ABSTRACT: The north Riverside front of Almada is enclosed between the cliff and the river. This place was a strategic point of strong industrial activity. Today, the privileged landscape, the memories and the ruins are the only things that remains. With the construction of the bridge 25 de Abril, the road transport replaced the river transport and this place became obsolete. This entire riverfront is characterized by a degraded place, with a considerably different image in relation to the north bank of the river, whose patrimonial and territorial appreciation has been noted. The reconversion of degraded industrial spaces is fundamental to the identity and development of cities. The goal of this investigation is to understand the logic of growth of the place, to reactivate the riverfront, focusing on the projectual development of the social, economic and cultural regeneration of Quinta da Arealva.
