Avaliação das práticas educativas familiares na perspectiva dos pais e filhos: a versão portuguesa da PEF

Abstract

A presente investigação teve como finalidade o estudo das qualidades psicométricas da versão portuguesa das Escalas de Identificação de Práticas Educativas Familiares (PEF). Este instrumento, originalmente desenvolvido em espanhol, tem por objectivo a avaliação das práticas educativas parentais na percepção dos adultos/pais (Escala PEF-A) e na percepção das crianças/filhos (Escala PEF-H), através das quais se obtém estilos educativos parentais. O estudo das qualidades psicométricas das Escalas englobou um total de 150 participantes e indicou a sua adaptabilidade. Foram encontradas, diferenças entre os estilos educativos percepcionados por pais e mães e entre os estilos educativos percepcionados por filhos/filhas, tal como correlações significativas entre percepções de pais e mães e filhos/filhas, e associações entre percepções de estilos parentais e variáveis sócio-demográficas de pais e mães e filhos/filhas. Através da comparação com uma amostra constituída por 40 participantes acompanhados pela Intervenção Precoce, foram encontradas diferenças nos estilos educativos percepcionados como utilizados pelas mães; ABSTRACT: This research focused on the study of the psychometric qualities of the Portuguese version of the Scales for the Identification of Family Educational Practices (PEF). This instrument, originally developed in Spanish, is aimed at assessing parenting practices in the perception of adults/parents (PEF Scale-A) and the perception of children/child (Scale PEF-H), through which educational parenting styles are obtained. The study of the psychometric qualities of the scales included a total of 150 participants and indicated its adaptability. Differences were found between the educational styles perceived by mothers and fathers and between educational styles perceived by sons/daughters. Significant correlations were also found, between perceptions of mothers and fathers and sons/daughters, as well as associations between perceptions of parenting styles and socio-demographic variables of mothers and fathers and sons/daughters. By comparing a sample of 40 participants accompanied by early intervention, we found differences in educational styles perceived as being used by mothers.
