Estruturas e padrões de povoamento rurais em época romana: estratégias e problemas

Abstract

By tradition, researchers paid great attention to the Roman rural landscape, especially to the magnificent villae. However, what we really know is very unequal, because regarding the rustici sites we are not capable of perceiving the agro-pecuarian spaces, how the production process was controlled, which were the properties domains and limits, or the other places beyond the aulic villae, for example. In these and parallel fields, knowledge about the agricultural world has slowly progressed, in spite the new methodologies and techniques now available for the researchers. In this sense, some considerations are presented about possible strategies for the research.
