Gravidez precoce e abandono escolar: um estudo com os alunos do 11º e 12º ano do Liceu Nacional em S. Tomé

Abstract

A gravidez precoce é uma das principais razões de exclusão escolar das adolescentes, em São Tomé e Príncipe, com efeitos bastante significativos na sua vida académica, o que diminui a oportunidade da rapariga em melhorar a sua situação económica no futuro. Considerando esse contexto, o estudo terá como objetivo analisar a ocorrência da gravidez precoce e consequente exclusão escolar. O objetivo desta investigação será identificar o perfil das adolescentes que engravidaram precocemente e compreender as causas e os motivos que as levaram a engravidar e abandonar a escola, analisar aspetos relacionados com a idade, a escolaridade, situação económica, perfil sociodemográfico, educacional e comportamental. Para o estudo será utilizada uma metodologia mista, por meio de inquérito, de entrevistas e questionários. Serão feitas entrevistas a três (3) jovens que foram mães na adolescência e aos dois (2) decisores educativos (Diretora Geral do Ensino e Diretor do Liceu Nacional) e um inquérito por questionários a uma amostra de 150 alunos do 11º e do 12º ano. O trabalho será baseado em dados recolhidos no Liceu Nacional de São Tomé, onde os casos de gravidez precoce têm sido cada vez mais frequentes. Serão consultados livros, revistas, artigos científicos, estudos realizados e serão construídos inquéritos por questionários e entrevistas; “Early pregnancy and school dropout – A Study with 11 and 12 th grade students at the Nacional High School.” Abstract: Early pregnancy is one of the main reasons for school exclusion of adolescents in São Tomé and Príncipe, which has a strong influence in their academic lives, which diminishes the opportunity for girls to improve their economic situation in the future. Taking into account this context, the aim of this study will be to analyse the occurrence of early pregnancy and its consequences in terms of school exclusion. The aim of this research will be to identify the adolescents profile who registered an occurrence of early pregnancy and to understand the causes and reasons that have taken them to be pregnant and to abandon the school and to analyse aspects related with age, grade of education, economic conditions, social, demographic, educational and behavioural profile. In this study will be used a mixed research methodology, supported by interviews and questionnaires. It will be made interviews to three (3) young girls who had been mothers in their adolescence and to two (2) educational decision makers (Director of Education and Director of the National High School). It will also be done questionnaires to a sample of 150 students from 11th and 12th levels. The work will be based on data collected at the National High School of São Tomé, where the cases of early pregnancy has been more and more frequent. Books, journals, scientific articles will be consulted. It will be constructed questionnaires and interviews.
