A monografia apresenta-se estruturada em várias secções, sendo elas: fisiologia, etiologia, epidemiologia, sinais clínicos, diagnóstico, terapêutica, prognóstico e casos clínicos; ABSTRACT: This report describes the clinical and surgical activities related to companion and exotic animals that were followed by the veterinary trainee during her main internship. This internship occurred during the “fundamental domain” of the final stage from the MSc in Veterinary Medicine, of the University of Évora. This internship, during which the trainee had the opportunity of acquiring further practical experience, took place at the Arrábida Veterinary Hospital, in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão, under the supervision of its clinical director, Dr Ângela Martins, and lasted for five months. This report is divided into two parts: the first one discusses all the case studies which occurred during the internship and the second, called a monograph, describes the “Canine Hypothyroidism”, an endocrinopathy which showed a higher frequency when compared with the other endocrine disorders, thus attracting the trainee’s attention and interest. The monograph is structured in several sections, as follows: physiology, etiology, epidemiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, therapeutics and prognosis.por
