Partilhas (in)discretas? O lugar da tecnologia na construção da parentalidade digital

Abstract

O sharenting tornou-se recentemente numa prática visível nos diferentes media sociais (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp). Esta prática tem permitido refletir sobre os direitos das crianças à privacidade previstos na Convenção sobre os Direitos das Crianças (CDC) e o direito ao esquecimento que se encontra previsto na Regulamentação Geral da Proteção dos dados (RGPD). Partindo deste enquadramento, esta investigação tem como objetivo compreender em perspetiva sociológica o modo como os usos que pais e filhos fazem da tecnologia de informação e comunicação enformam a construção social em torno da “parentalidade competente” na contemporaneidade. Os resultados foram obtidos por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa, intensiva e em profundidade, através da qual foram aplicadas entrevistas semiestruturadas de episódio a homens- pais, mulheres-mães e filhos-crianças com idades compreendidas entre os 10 e os 18 anos, por forma a desocultar os sentidos, práticas e contextos da parentalidade digital. Ao longo das entrevistas usou-se a foto-elicitação, na qual foram facultados segmentos de interação em rede nos media sociais dos entrevistados à investigadora. A partir da análise e discussão dos resultados obtidos caraterizam-se práticas e contextos de usos das TIC, identificam-se perfis de utilização e reflete-se sobre como as partilhas que pais e mães fazem online em nome da garantia e bem-estar dos filhos interferem naquilo que são os direitos das crianças; - (In)discreet sharing? Sharenting is currently a visible practice in several social media (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp). This practice allows one to reflect on the rights of children and privacy issues as provided for in the Convention on Children's Rights (CCR) and in the General Protection Regulations of data in Europe (GDPR). Having this as a backdrop, this research to understand, from a sociological perspective, how the uses that parents and children make of information and communication technology shape the social construction around “competent parenting” in contemporary times. The results were obtained through a qualitative, intensive, and in-depth approach, conducting episodic interviewees with fathers, mothers, and children aged between 10 and 18 years, to uncover the meanings, practices, and contexts of the digital parenting. The interviews used photo-elicitation, wherein segments of interactions in social media were shared by the interviewees with the researcher. Based on the analysis and discussion of the results, practices and contexts of use of ICT are characterized, usage profiles are identified and broad reflections are made on how the sharing that fathers and mothers do online in the name of ensuring the well-being of their children interfere with children's rights.
