Tradução francesa da obra romanesca de José Saramago. O caso dos romances Ensaio sobre a Cegueira (1995), Todos os Nomes (1997) e a Caverna (2000)

Abstract

O presente estudo, desenvolvido no âmbito dos Estudos de Tradução - mais especificamente, dos Estudos Descritivos de Tradução -, tem por núcleo a análise comparativa de três romances de José Saramago- Ensaio sobre a Cegueira (1995), Todos os Nomes (1997) e A Caverna (2000) - com as respectivas traduções francesas - L'Aveuglement (1997), Tous les Noms (1999) e La Caverne (2002) - elaboradas por Geneviève Leibrich. Mediante a referida análise e a caracterização dos espaços literários português e francês de 1980 a 2002, apuramos de que forma o espaço literário alvo interfere no trabalho da tradutora e qual a função dos romances traduzidos no meio literário que integram. A investigação efectuada fornece elementos respeitantes à recepção portuguesa e francesa da obra saramaguiana, detém-se nas relações literárias luso­ francesas, com uma particular atenção para a presença da literatura portuguesa em França, e representa um contributo para algumas questões estruturantes dos Estudos de Tradução. ⓿⓿⓿ ABSTRACT: The present study, developed within the Translation Studies - more specifically, the Descriptive Translation Studies - has, at his core, the comparative analysis of José Saramago's three novels- Ensaio sobre a Cegueira (1995), Todos os Nomes (1997) andA Caverna (2000)- with their french translations- L' Aveuglement (1997), Tous les Noms (1999) and La Caverne (2002)- by Geneviéve Leibrich. Through this analysis and the characterization of the portuguese and french literary fields, from 1980 to 2002, we determine how the target literary area interferes in the translator's work and which role do the translated novels play in that area. This investigation provides, also, data about the portuguese and the french reception of Saramago's work and the luso-french literary relationships, with particular focus on the presence of the portuguese literature in France. lt represents, additionally, a contribution to some of the structural issues brought up by the Translation Studies.
