Análise estilística e filológica da obra de Eugénio de Andrade, como pressuposto para a tradução

Abstract

A tese analisa aspetos linguístico-estilísticos e rítmicos da poesia de Eugénio de Andrade, em perspectiva tradutória. O usus scribendi do poeta carateriza-se pelo contínuo trabalho sobre os textos e as coletâneas, anterior e sucessivo à sua edição. Isto permite realizar uma análise do estilo e do ritmo in fieri. Articulando a linguística do texto de Eugenio Coseriu e a crítica do ritmo de Henri Meschonnic com a filologia d’autore e a critique génétique, analisam-se textos éditos numa abordagem genética. A documentação enriquece-se graças ao abundante material inédito conservado nos arquivos (nomeadamente, no fundo do poeta da Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto e na Coleção Eugénio de Andrade do Arquivo Histórico Municipal de Gondomar, mas também em outros acervos). A tese consta de três capítulos: no primeiro, colocamos as bases teóricas para as sucessivas análises sobre os textos e destacámos alguns ecos intertextuais (a literatura medieval e popular, a poesia brasileira e a obra pessoana). O segundo capítulo é dedicado à construção do estilo e do ritmo: estudamos inicialmente alguns recursos estilísticos da poesia eugeniana; a seguir, aprofundamos os poemas definidos “em colar” por Óscar Lopes e, por fim, a estrutura das coletâneas. Aspetos prosódicos da obra são investigados graças às gravações dos poemas lidos pelo autor e documentos inéditos que testemunham as suas intervenções neste sentido. O último capítulo é dedicado à tradução: identificámos a metodologia do poeta como tradutor estudando a génese de algumas suas versões (com ênfase no ritmo) e apresentando traduções inéditas dele. O estudo da correspondência do poeta com dois dos seus tradutores e a análise da elaboração da versão francesa de Ostinato Rigore, de 1971, com a anteriormente enviada pelo tradutor – que permite deduzir as intervenções do poeta–, constituem ferramentas importantes para quem aborda a obra eugeniana como tradutor. A tese destaca, portanto, o movimento dos textos: dos arquivos à tradução; Stylistics and philological analysis of Eugénio de Andrade's work, as the basis for new translations. ABSTRACT: This thesis focuses on Eugénio de Andrade’s poetic work, studying some of its linguistics, stylistics and rhythmic aspects in a translation perspective. The poet’s usus scribendi, characterized by a constant work on the texts and by an extended rearrangement of the poetry collections, before and after their publication, enables an in fieri analysis of his work’s style and rhythm. Combining Eugenio Coseriu’s text linguistics and Henri Meschonnic’s critique du rythme with author philology and critique génétique, we ana-lyze published texts in a genetic approach. Abundant unpublished archive materials (par-ticularly from the poet’s collection in the Biblioteca Pública Municipal do Porto and the Coleção Eugénio de Andrade do Arquivo Histórico Municipal de Gondomar, but also from archives of others) enrich the dossier. The thesis is composed of three chapters. In the first one, we lay the theoretical basis for the subsequent analysis on the texts, emphasizing intertextual references (medieval and popular literature, brazilian poetry, Fernando Pessoa’s work). The second chapter deals with the construction of the style and the rhythm: we consider some stylistics aspects of Eugénio de Andrades’s poetry, then the poems defined as “em colar” by Óscar Lopes and, finally, the poetry collection’s structure. We study prosodic aspects through recordings of some poems read by the poet himself and documents demonstrating his operations in this sense. The last chapter focuses on translation: we identify the poet’s method as a translator, studying the genesis of some of his translations (with a focus on rhythm) and presenting some unpublished ones. His correspondence with two of his translators, as well as the study of the genesis of the french version of Ostinato Rigore (1971) with the one the translator sent him before, are important tools for those who approach Eugénio de Andrade’s poetic work as translators. So, the thesis shows the movement of texts: from archives to translation.
