Reconstrução da rede trófica aquática da albufeira do Alqueva: uma abordagem bibliográfica

Abstract

A barragem do Alqueva foi construída para fornecer água à agricultura, indústria e às populações da região do Alentejo, influenciando, no entanto, a estrutura do ecossistema natural da região. Ao utilizar a presença de taxa aquáticos e de atributos funcionais, provenientes de bases de dados e artigos, esta tese visou inferir a rede ecológica da albufeira do Alqueva. As redes de interação, com 241 taxa recolhidos, desde mamíferos e aves, a invertebrados e algas, foram inferidas utilizando um método de correspondência de características funcionais, que permitiu excluir cerca de dois terços das interações proibidas revelando, pela primeira vez, a estrutura da rede ecológica da Albufeira. Este estudo servirá de ponto de partida para uma caracterização mais detalhada das redes tróficas da região, por modo a inferir as consequências que as alterações climáticas ou a utilização dos terrenos, na bacia do Alqueva, terão nas redes tróficas; Reconstructing the aquatic food web of the Alqueva dam: a bibliographic approach. Abstract: The Alqueva dam was built to provide water to agriculture, industry and the populations of the Alentejo region, influencing, however, the structure of the region's natural ecosystem. Using the presence of aquatic taxa and functional attributes, obtained in databases and articles, this thesis aimed to infer the ecological network of the Alqueva reservoir. The interaction networks, with 241 collected taxa, ranging from mammals and birds, to invertebrates and algae, were inferred using a method of matching functional characteristics that allowed us to exclude about two thirds of the prohibited interactions revealing for the first time the structure of the ecological network of the Albufeira. This study will serve as a starting point for a more detailed characterization of the trophic networks, in order to infer the consequences that climate change or land use in the region will have on trophic networks of the Alqueva basin.
