Armazéns urbanos de cultura. Reconversão industrial na Lisboa a Oriente: o caso dos Armazéns Abel Pereira da Fonseca

Abstract

Esta investigação surge na sequência do projecto académico no âmbito da disciplina de projecto avançado III, onde se propunha a criação de um Centro de Cultura Contemporânea com o intuito de consolidar a frente ribeirinha da cidade de Lisboa, entre Santa Apolónia e a Matinha. Nesta zona marcada pela industria e o seu declínio e o consequente abandono, encontra-se, ainda que desocupados e expectantes, diversos exemplares do património arquitectónico industrial, como o caso dos Armazéns Abel Pereira da Fonseca, capazes de ser reconvertidos para um programa cultural proposto. Para clarificar a problemática de intervir neste tipo de edifícios, investiga-se a noção de património industrial e as possíveis abordagens à reconversão destes edifícios, quer um ponto de vista teórico, quer também através do estudo prático de exemplos paradigmáticos. Reconverter um exemplo de património industrial requer por vezes que o edifício sofra alterações para se adequar ao novo uso que se pretende introduzir da mesma forma que também o programa deverá adaptar ao edifício, funcionando ambos num ajuste que se pretende que não destrua o carácter da pré-existência patrimonial; ABSTRACT: This research continues the academic project development within the discipline of Projecto Avançado III, that proposed the creation of a Contemporary Cultural Center in order to consolidate the riverfront in Lisbon, between Santa Apolónia and Matinha. In this área marked by the indutry, the declive and consequente abandonment of it, even if unoccupied and expectante, several exemples of industrial architectural heritage buildings, as the case of Abel Pereira da Fonseca warehouses able to be converted for the proposed cultural program. To clarity the issue of intervene in thistype of building, there´s a nned to investigate the nation of industrial heritage in itself and possible approaches to conversion of these buildings, either in a theoretical point of view or also through the pratical sudy of paradigmatic exemples. Convert industrial heritage building, requires sometimes that the building suffer changes to suit the new use to be introduced, in the same way that the program should also adapt itself to the building, working both in a setting that is intendedto not destroy the character of the pre existant heritage. It´s proposed a Urban Culture Center, reconverting the spaces os Abel Pereira da Fonseca Warehouses, dated back to 1910 and situated close to the Poço do Bispo dock, distinguished by the notoriety of itself and the large amplitude of their cellars and warehouses.
