Ensino e prática artística: Coimbra na segunda metade do século XX

Abstract

Entre 1958 e 2000, o Círculo de Artes Plásticas, em Coimbra, pautou a sua actividade pelo ensino, divulgação e pesquisa no âmbito das artes plásticas. Ao longo desse tempo, foram-se desenrolando actividades e intervenções que deixaram marcas no panorama cultural nacional, motivo por que foi reconhecido como espaço de referência no país. O constatar da ausência de informação organizada sobre o percurso do Círculo de Artes Plásticas, que permitisse conhecer a diversidade de momentos ocorridos e a pluralidade de contextos na altura vivenciados motivou a procura de documentação relevante que contribuísse para a compreensão do percurso então vivido. Esta tese visa assim apresentar e documentar o trajecto, vivido pelo Círculo de Artes Plásticas ao longo de 40 anos. A vasta documentação encontrada definiu a organização formal adoptada na elaboração deste trabalho, consubstanciada numa apresentação dos dados obtidos, sistematizada cronologicamente em duas partes. Assim, numa primeira parte elaborouse uma abordagem sobre o surgimento do Círculo de Artes Plásticas na Academia de Coimbra e a definição do seu projecto pedagógico, na segunda parte analisou-se a renovação, decorrente dos desafios da Arte que, entretanto, apareceram; Abstract: Artistic Teaching and Practice: Coimbra in the second half of the XXth century Between 1958 and 2000, the Círculo de Artes Plásticas, in Coimbra, was active in teaching, dissemination and research in the field of fine arts. During this period, there occurred various activities which left their mark on the national cultural scene, being this the reason that it was acknowledged as a reference point in this country. The lack of organized information about the trajectory of the Círculo de Artes Plásticas, which would allow one to know the diverse moments and the plurality of contexts experienced at the time, led to the search for relevant documentation which would contribute to the understanding of the path then taken. This thesis aims to present and document the trajectory taken by the Círculo de Artes Plásticas during those four decades. The vast documentation found defined the formal organization decided in the preparation of this work, substantiated in the presentation of the data obtained chronologically systematized in two parts. In the first part, we present the study of the emergence of the Círculo de Artes Plásticas in the Coimbra Academy and the definition of its pedagogical project. In the second part, we analyze the renovation arising from the challenges of Art, which, meanwhile, occurred.
