O doente mental grave no domicílio: gestão do regime terapêutico

Abstract

O presente relatório incide sobre a realização da avaliação diagnóstica ao doente mental grave no domicílio, quanto há forma como estes fazem a gestão do seu regime terapêutico. Os objectivos são: descrever o modo como os doentes mentais graves gerem o seu regime terapêutico no domicílio e identificar os factores que interferem nesse processo. Os dados foram obtidos através de entrevista realizadas, a sete utentes acompanhados em ambulatório, que reuniam os critérios previamente definidos. Observamos que todos os participantes tomam a terapêutica de forma irregular, com todos os riscos para a ocorrência de recaídas e internamentos, e identificamos os factores que poderão influenciar com este comportamento. Este trabalho remete-nos para a reflexão, sobre novas medidas a implementar no tratamento de manutenção do doente mental grave seguido no domicílio; ABSTRACT: The present report aims at conducting a diagnostic assessment of the severe mental patient at home, focusing on the way those patients manage their therapeutic regimen. The goals are: to describe how the severe mental patients manage their therapeutic regimen at home and to identify the elements which interfere in that process. The data was collected through interviews conducted with seven individuals who were being provided with ambulatory care and who complied with the previously established criteria. We observed that all the participants take their medication irregularly, with the accompanying risks of relapses and hospital admissions. We also identified the elements which may influence this behavior. This work leads us to reflect upon new steps to implement in the care of the severe mental patient who is provided with ambulatory care at home.
