Fatty acids and terpenes, which are renewable raw materials, can be transformed into different compound with high commercial value. Traditionally, the terpenes and fatty acid conversion are carried out over homogeneous catalysts. However, homogeneous catalysts have some disadvantages, such as difficulty in separations and the production of toxic waste. The use of heterogeneous catalysts can eliminate inevitable reactor corrosion, as well as lead to a decrease in waste formation. In general, heterogeneous catalysts are more attractive for industrial use than their homogeneous counterparts. In this work, the use of heterogeneous catalysts (silica and activated carbons) for the biomass conversion into chemicals and fuel will be reviewed.por
