This paper tries to explain the heat flow density values obtained in a region located in the south of Portugal. New results of heat production by radioactive decay of U, Th and K, and chemical reactions related with ore bodies explored in the region are considered as heat sources near the surface. Moho depths and seismic velocity values were obtained in a recent work made using receiver functions. Gravity anomalies and new density values obtained in the region were used. The two geotherms obtained show normal Moho temperature values and relatively high temperature values near the surface. The hypothesis of the existence of a thermal anomaly in the upper mantle seems not to be valid.por
