O impacto da doença oncológica na dinâmica da familia: um estudo exploratório

Abstract

O presente estudo objetiva a identificação das alterações observadas na dinâmica da família, na sequência de diagnóstico de cancro a um dos membros da mesma. Neste âmbito, será analisado o impacto da receção da notícia do diagnóstico de doença oncológica e reação dos doentes e seus familiares à mesma, identificadas as preocupações, dificuldades e necessidades do sistema familiar, observado o envolvimento dos membros da família e as alterações na dinâmica do sistema familiar e, por fim, identificado o suporte social pelo doente e seus familiares durante o processo de doença. O estudo envolveu 9 doentes e 9 familiares, a quem foi realizada uma entrevista semiestruturada. Os resultados – analisados por intermédio da análise de conteúdo – revelaram que o diagnóstico de uma doença oncológica é recebido maioritariamente com reações de choque e revolta, tendo impacto a vários níveis provocando alterações significativas na dinâmica do sistema familiar, nomeadamente relacionais, monetárias, organização de rotinas, psicológicas e físicas, revelando-se o suporte social como fundamental para os seus membros; The impact of oncologic disease in family dynamic – an exploratory study Abstract: This study aims the identification of observed modifications in the family dynamics, as a result of cancer diagnosis in one family member. In this context, the impact of the news reception and the patients and their families reaction to those will be analyzed; the worries, difficulties and needs of the familiar system will be also observed; the involvement of the family members and the modifications in the familiar system dynamics will be observed and, finally, the patient and their family's social support during the disease process will be identified. The study involved 9 patients and 9 familiar members to whom was performed a semi-structured interview. The results - analyzed by content analysis - revealed that the diagnosis of a oncologic disease is mostly received with shock and anger reactions, and has an impact on many levels causing significant modifications in the family system dynamics, particularly relational, monetary, routine organization, psychological and physical modifications, showing that the social support is essential to its members.
