Abstract

Leo Spitzer define a Ekphrasis como a descrição poética de uma obra de arte. Segundo este autor, o que interessa é o objeto da experiência e não tanto a experiência que o sujeito tem do objeto, em que Aguiar e Silva centra a sua definição, quando afirma que mais do que descrever, o poeta «recria, uma obra de arte». Os dois caminhos percorridos neste trabalho, ancorados na obra de Paula Rego, são demonstrativos da definição de Aguiar e Silva. O objeto inspirador é apenas o elemento impulsionador para a criação artística. Os textos literários. Objetos de estudo da primeira parte, ainda que em muitos aspetos evoquem as narrativas da pintora, distanciam-se delas, assumindo caminhos distintos, muitas vezes opostos. Das mais variadas páginas dos autores em que Paula Rego se inspira nascem, igualmente, telas que, mais do que ilustrarem os textos em que se inspiram, criam novas historias. Os dois caminhos percorridos sublinham, assim, que a obra de arte, verbal ou pictórica, convoca o espirito criador de quem a faz nascer. From the canvas to the page and from the page to the canvas: paths with Paula Rego/ABSTRACT - Leo Spitzer defines the Ekphrasis as the poetical description of a work of art. According to this author what matters more is the object of the experience not the experience the subject has of the object, as Aguiar e Silva focus on his definition when he states that more than describing, the poet «re-creates a work of art». The two paths of this work, anchored on Paula Rego's work, are demonstrative of Aguiar e Silva definition. The inspirer object is just the booster element for the artistic creation. Literary texts, object of study in the first part, evoke the narrative of the painter in many aspects but get apart them assuming distinct ways, many times opposite ways. From the most different pages of the authors that inspire Paula Rego come out Iikewise canvas that more than illustrate the texts, they create new stories. The two paths followed underline, therefore, that the work of art, either verbal or picton`al, calls the creative mind of the one who makes it born.
