“Mas o que pode a literatura? Ou antes: o que podem as palavras?”: A relação entre a figura feminina e a literatura nas obras A Room of One’s Own de Virginia Woolf e Novas Cartas Portuguesas de Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta e Maria Velho da Costa

Abstract

Esta dissertação aborda a relação que a figura feminina estabelece com a literatura. Analisam-se a autoria feminina e a mulher personagem, nas obras A Room of One’s Own de Virginia Woolf e Novas Cartas Portuguesas de Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta e Maria Velho da Costa. Considerando a afirmação da voz feminina, introduzemse os conceitos de Estudos Feministas e de escrita feminina. Analisando as obras, confirma-se a tradicional adversidade na consolidação da autoria feminina e na superação dos estereótipos, sublinhando-se a imagem que as mulheres constroem de si próprias e a complementaridade estabelecida entre ambas as obras. A metodologia fundamenta-se na análise literária, na pesquisa e seleção bibliográficas, acordando com os tópicos desenvolvidos. O percurso literário feminino é exigente. A desvalorização das autoras femininas e a demorada evolução da condição feminina geram desencanto, combatido com a afeição literária; “Mas o que pode a literatura? Feminine authorship and the woman character are analyzed, in the works A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf and Novas Cartas Portuguesas by Maria Isabel Barreno, Maria Teresa Horta e Maria Velho da Costa. Considering the affirmation of the feminine voice, the concepts of Feminist Studies and of feminine writing are introduced. Analyzing the works, the traditional adversity in the consolidation of feminine authorship and in the overcoming of stereotypes is confirmed, underlining the image that women build of themselves and the complementarity established between the works. The methodology is based on literary analysis, bibliographical research and selection, according to the developed topics. The feminine literary course is demanding. The devaluation of feminine authors and the late evolution of woman’s condition generate disappointment, fought with literary affection.
