Abstract In preschool age, a period of acquisition and increase of the fundamental motor skills, the diversity of experiences and contexts contributes to the development of children. Outer space offers opportunities to explore these skills promoting development, health and well-being. This study aimed to analyze the effects of a psychomotor intervention on the motor skills of preschool children. A group of 25 children participated in the OUT-TO-IN psychomotor intervention program which involved biweekly outdoor sessions for 10 weeks. A similar group of 25 children did not participate in the program, maintaining the usual routines. The intervention followed a mind-body approach, integrating exercise game activities, playful relaxation and symbolization. Motor competence was evaluated by the Test of Gross Motor Development at the beginning and end of the intervention. According to the results of the inter- and intra-group comparisons, the intervention had positive effects on the locomotion subtest, specifically on running, hopping, lateral displacement, one-handed dribbling and catching skills. It is concluded that integrative interventions (mind-body) can contribute to the development of motor competence in preschool children.por
