1958: discurso(s) de oposição na imprensa eborense

Abstract

A dissertação procura configurar a existência em 1958 de discursos de oposição na imprensa eborense tendo como fontes Democracia do Sul e Jornal de Évora. No contexto do Estado Novo as eleições presidenciais. De 1958 têm um significado muito próprio pelo impacto que causaram na população portuguesa e configuram um momento propício para perceber a resistência que no interior do país se fazia ao poder instituído. Analisando as mensagens transmitidas por estes dois periódicos eborenses, quer na forma quer nos conteúdos, pretende-se comprovar o papel da imprensa na estruturação da Opinião Pública enquanto instância crítica sem retomo. Democracia do Sul quotidianamente advogava a liberdade e a democracia enquanto Jornal de Évora defendia incansavelmente o desenvolvimento da cidade afrontando com tenacidade o poder local. /ABSTRACT - This dissertation aims to outline the existence in 1958 of speeches of opposition in the eborense press considering Democracia do Sul and Jornal de Évora as sources. In the context of the Estado Novo the presidential elections of 1958 had a unique meaning in what concerns their impact in the Portuguese population and therefore they may be considered as an opportune moment to perceive the resistance that in the interior of the country was made to the instituted power. Analyzing the messages transmitted by these two eborense newspapers, either in form as in content, it is intended to argue the role of the press in the shaping of public opinion while understood as a critical instance without return. Democracia do Sul daily advocated freedom and democracy while Jornal de Évora untiringly defended the development of the city, confronting with tenacity the local power.
