No mundo moderno, entre as diversas determinantes que definem cada indivíduo, a identidade é uma das mais significativas. É, através desta que, cada um de nós expressa os nossos interesses, os nossos ideais e morais, os nossos desejos e sonhos. É algo que demonstra a nossa unicidade e como existe uma pluralidade de identidades no meio que nos circunda e que se manifestam de forma singular. Ao longo desta dissertação pretende-se discutir como a autodescoberta dos adolescentes e jovens-adultos é um momento crucial para o seu desenvolvimento na sociedade e como este processo pode ser influenciado pela mesma e pelos valores arcaicos a esta associados. Assim, a este imenso tópico estão ligados assuntos como a desigualdade de género, a sexualidade, e as relações estabelecidas com outros indivíduos; The art of saying no: In search of identity on the works of Sarra Manning, Simon James Green and Danielle Jawando. Abstract: In the modern world, among the many elements that define each individual, identity is one of the most significant ones. It is through identity that each one of us expresses our interests, our ideals and morals, our desires, and dreams. Identity demonstrates our uniqueness and how there is a plurality of identities through the entire society that are characterized in a singular way. Throughout this dissertation, the objective is to explore how self-discovery of adolescents and young adults is a crucial moment for their development as individuals and how this process can be influenced by society itself, its institutions and the archaic ethics associated to them. Therefore, subjects, such as, gender inequality, sexuality, and the relationship between individuals are linked to this topic and extremely valuable to discuss.
