VO: multisensory life centered experience

Abstract

VO: Multisensory Life Centered Experience tem por base o aumento significativo da população sénior acima dos 65 anos, face ao decréscimo acentuado da população jovem em Portugal, à semelhança do verificado noutros países desenvolvidos. O VO surge no contexto do Défice Cognitivo Ligeiro (DCL) e pretende uma experiência multissensorial, interativa e inovadora que previna, retarda e/ou minimiza a gradual manifestação do DCL ao longo da vida. Através do Life Centered Design e do User Experience / Interaction, o VO aspira, não só a uma melhoria da autonomia, do desempenho cognitivo, psicológico e motor do indivíduo, assim como da capacidade de comunicação e relação interpessoal. A nossa motivação é compreender a relação estabelecida entre o DCL e o Design e, verificar com o artefacto / solução, o seu impacto na condição do indivíduo-alvo, de modo a discutir o papel que o Design pode ter na criação de soluções terapêuticas; VO: Multisensory Life Centered Experience - Abstract: The significant increase of the senior population over 65 years old, and the declining of the young population, in Portugal and other developed countries, are known facts. VO: Multisensory Life Centered Experience arises in a context of increasing Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Our investigation will be the development of a multisensory, interactive innovative experience to prevent, delay and minimize the gradual manifestation of MCI throughout life. VO aspires to improve the individual's autonomy, cognitive, psychological, and motor performance, through a Life Centered Design and User Experience / Interaction, as well as communication and interpersonal skills stimulus. Our motivation is to understand established relationships between MCI and Design. We will verify the impact that Design can have in the creation of therapeutic solutions on the condition of the target individual by developing a designed therapeutic device.
