Barro con historias: iconografía en la cerámica de al-Andalus

Abstract

Ceramics from al-Andalus are extraordinarily rich in ornamentation, in the diversity of techniques of production, in the variety of motifs and expressions of their compositions and styles. Interpreting the significance of the decoration, the themes represented, the functions carried out by the user of the objects and, in general, for the community that produced them, is neither simple nor lacking in controversy. We will show some examples of motifs, compositions, styles, themes and functions of the al-Andalus ceramics in this article in order to give structure to some lines of investigation on this theme.
