Modelação de Descargas Eléctricas e da Circulação Atmosférica no Evento de Pedrogão Grande

Abstract

The Meso-NH cloud-resolving model coupled to the Cloud Electrification and Lightning Scheme (CELLS) were used at 1 km horizontal resolution to simulate the Cloud-Ground electrical discharges and the evolution of the meteorological conditions during the tragic wildfire event occurred in Pedrogão Grande, Portugal, in June 17, 2017. The model well simulates the occurrence of several lightnings during the day, but to the east of the ignition zone, in accordance with the IPMA national detection system. The simulation also allows a better characterization of the evolution of the atmospheric circulations including the formation of downbursts, responsible for the rotation and intensification of the wind.
