L’Impact de l’exploitation du caoutchouc sur le paysage et l’architecture de la fôret amazonienne : le cas de Cachuela Esperanza (1882 - 1961)

Abstract

Ce mémoire présente une analyse de la transformation du paysage et de l'architecture dans la région amazonienne à partir de l'étude des vestiges de l'établissement industriel de la société des frères Suarez situé à Cachuela Esperanza ; l'objectif est de déterminer la contribution potentielle de l'étude des sources matérielles à la définition de la valeur patrimoniale de l'espace amazonien L'ouvrage est concentré en quatre parties : Elle commence par proposer un nouveau regard sur la forêt amazonienne à partir de l'étude des sources matérielles laissées après la "fièvre du caoutchouc" en Bolivie. Ensuite, elle présente une analyse basée sur l'observation des caractéristiques matérielles et des particularités du site ; Puis, elle questionne les enjeux de son intégration dans les dynamiques sociales et économiques contemporaines. Enfin, elle conclut en identifiant les éléments de ce site qui contribuent à déterminent la valeur patrimoniale de l'activité industrielle du caoutchouc en Amazonie; The impact of rubber exploitation on the landscape and architecture in the Amazon rainforest: The case of Cachuela Esperanza (1882 - 1961) Abstract: This dissertation presents an analysis of the transformation of the landscape and architecture in the Amazon region based on the study of the remains of the industrial establishment of the Suarez brothers company located in Cachuela Esperanza; the objective is to determine the potential contribution of the study of material sources to the definition of the heritage value of the Amazonian space The structure is concentrated in four parts: It begins by proposing a new look at the Amazonian forest based on the study of material sources left after the "rubber boom fever" in Bolivia. Afterwards, it presents an analysis based on the observation of the material characteristics and the particularities of the site. Subsequently, it questions the stakes of its integration in contemporary social and economic dynamics. Finally, it concludes by identifying the elements of this site that contribute to determining the heritage value of the industrial rubber activity in Amazonia.
