MORFOEVOLUÇÃO DO TECIDO URBANO ENVOLVENTE A CASAS RELIGIOSAS CARMELITAS EM TRÊS CONTINENTES: EUROPA (ÉVORA), ÁSIA (GOA), AMÉRICA (SALVADOR DA BAHIA)

Abstract

RESUMO: A Ordem dos Carmelitas Descalços deve a sua fundação a Teresa Ahumada. Figura relevante da Contrarreforma desempenhou um papel fundamental, através das suas obras, na vida contemplativa e espiritual. Este movimento teve grande expansão na Península Ibérica e em territórios distantes através do ramo masculino, posteriormente criado. Neste trabalho, serão procurados pontos de convergência, de caráter arquitetónico e urbanístico, entre três casas religiosas desta Ordem, localizadas em diferentes continentes e datas de fundação. O primeiro na Europa, em Portugal (Évora), o Convento de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, na Ásia (Índia – Goa), o Convento de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, e no continente americano (Brasil – Salvador da Bahia), o de Santa Teresa de Convento de Jesus. Pretende se analisar legados patrimoniais, situados em diferentes realidades geo-temporais, a influência que a sua arquitetura representou na construção inicial, o ambiente urbano e o legado atual. ABSTRACT: The Order of Barefoot Carmelites owes its foundation to Teresa Ahumada. A relevant figure of the Counter Reformation played a key role, through her works, in the contemplative and spiritual life. This movement had great expansion in the Iberian Peninsula and in distant territories through the masculine branch, later created. In this work, points of convergence, of architectural and urban character, will be sought between three religious houses of this Order, located on different continents and foundational dates. The first in Europe, in Portugal (Évora), the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Convent, in Asia (India – Goa), the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Convent, and in the American continent (Brazil – Salvador da Bahia), the Santa Teresa de Jesus Convent. It is intended to analyse heritage legacies, situated in different geo-temporal realities, the influence that its architecture represented in the initial construction, the urban environment, and the current legacy.
