O martírio do corpo. O impacto das crenças católicas sobre o meu corpo

Abstract

O meu relatório de Trabalho de Projecto é uma investigação teórico-prática em artes visuais, que tem como objectivo principal o estudo do impacto das crenças católicas sobre as mulheres, nomeadamente, de que modo os valores que estas crenças veiculam persistem como tabus sobre o meu corpo de mulher brasileira. Igualmente, procuro analisar de que forma o contexto religioso do colonialismo, da Inquisição e da Igreja Católica se encontram ainda presentes e limitam a liberdade das mulheres relativamente aos seus corpos e à sua sexualidade. No decorrer desta investigação são descritos os meus trabalhos artísticos realizados em torno desta temática, entrecruzados com reflexões de pensadores e artistas diversos, das áreas das artes, das humanidades e dos estudos de género, entre outras, como Márcia Tiburi, Simone de Beauvoir, Rebecca Solnit e Heleieth Iara Bongiovani Saffioti que constituem o suporte teórico da minha produção artística; Abstract My Project Work report is a theoretical-practical research in the visual arts, whose main objective is to study the impact of Catholic beliefs on women, namely, how the values these beliefs convey persist as taboos on my Brazilian woman's body. Similarly, I seek to analyse how the religious context of colonialism, the Inquisition and the Catholic Church is still present and limits women's freedom with regard to their bodies and their sexualities. In the course of this research, I describe my artistic works around this theme, interwoven with reflections of diverse thinkers and artists, from the fields of arts, humanities and gender studies, among others, such as Marcia Tiburi, Simone de Beauvoir, Rebecca Solnit and Heleieth Iara Bongiovani Saffioti, who constitute the theoretical basis of my artistic production.
