Das Exposições Universais às Exposições de Rádio e Eletricidade: História, Tecnologia e Património

Abstract

Este artigo tem como objectivos: abordar o papel que a electricidade teve nas Exposições Universais e nas Exposições de Eletricidade que foram realizadas em vários países ao longo da segunda metade do século XIX e nas primeiras décadas do século XX; na sequência dessas exposições, que foram consideradas como momentos importantes de divulgação dos progressos técnicos e industriais, bem como oportunidades de desenvolver o comércio e a venda de produtos, contextualizar as Exposições de Rádio e de Rádio e Eletricidade realizadas em Portugal nos anos 20 e 30 do século XX; demonstrar como essas exposições foram conjuntamente com os congressos de electricidade eventos relevantes para a afirmação do sector eléctrico em Portugal e contribuíram para a promoção de determinadas marcas; e, finalmente demonstrar como hoje são uma fonte importante para a história da electricidade e para o estudo do património técnico industrial associado a este sector. ---------------------------------------------------This article aims to: address the role that the electricity had in the Universal Exhibitions and in the Electricity Exhibition, which were held in several countries during the second half of the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century; following such exhibitions, which were considered important moments of dissemination of technical and industrial developments as well as opportunities to develop trade and sale of products, contextualize the Radio Exhibitions and the Radio and Electricity Exhibitions, held in Portugal in the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century; demonstrate how these exposures, together with the Congress of electricity, were important to affirm the sector of the electricity in Portugal and had contributed to the promotion of certain brands; and, finally, demonstrate how these objects are today an important source for the history of electricity and for the study of technical industrial heritage associated with this sector.
