Os deputados do Alentejo durante a I República. Perfil social e político / The Deputies from the Alentejo during the Portuguese First Republic. Social and political profile

Abstract

Este estudo incide sobre o perfil social e político dos deputados eleitos pelos seis círculos eleitorais do Alentejo durante a I República portuguesa (1910-1926). Analisamos os tópicos referentes à idade, origem geográfica, formação acadêmica e as profissões dos deputados. No referente ao perfil político estudamos a sua experiência nos cargos governamentais e locais, a pertença à Maçonaria e aos partidos políticos, e por fim, a continuidade/descontinuidade da classe política nas mudanças de regime. This study focuses on the social and political profile of the deputies elected by the six electoral districts of the Alentejo during the Portuguese First Republic (1910-1926). We analysed topics referring to age, geographic origin, academic background and professions of deputies. Regarding the political profile, we studied their experience in national and local government, their membership in Freemasonry and political parties, and finally, the continuity/discontinuity of the political class in regime changes.
