Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio foi elaborado no âmbito do estágio curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária da Universidade de Évora. Descrevemos, de forma sucinta, as atividades desenvolvidas ao longo do estágio no Hospital Veterinário Muralha Évora. Contempla, ainda uma revisão bibliográfica referente ao maneio reprodutivo dos ovinos e a apresentação e discussão dos resultados obtidos num estudo de caso. A sincronização do estro, preconizada por tratamentos hormonais, é uma ferramenta útil para melhorar as taxas reprodutivas e consequentemente otimizar a eficiência reprodutiva e produtiva dos ovinos. Pretendeu-se avaliar eficácia de diferentes sistemas de maneio em relação a taxa de fertilidade aparente. A taxa tende a aumentar com a idade das fêmeas, havendo um ligeiro declínio a partir dos seis anos. Verificou-se um aumento na taxa de gestação subsequente ao protocolo de sincronização do cio, e quando comparamos CIDR novo e CIDR reutilizado obtivemos valores semelhantes na taxa de gestação; ABSTRACT: Clinical of Livestock Species This internship report was prepared as a part of the curricular internship of the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine of the University of Évora. We describe, in a brief way, the activities developed during the internship at the Veterinary Hospital Muralha Évora. It also includes a bibliographic review on the reproductive management of sheep and, the presentation and discussion of results obtained in a case study. The synchronization of estrus, recommended by hormonal treatments are a useful tool to minimize unproductive periods and optimize the reproductive and productive efficiency of the sheep. It was intended to evaluate the efficiency of different management systems in relation to fertility rate. The fertility rate increases with the age of the females, with a slight decline from six years. There has been an increase in gestation rate subsequent to the oestrus synchronization protocol, and when comparing new and reused CIDR we obtained similar values in gestation rate.
