Captura de animais selvagens no sudoeste africano

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como principal objectivo relatar algumas actividades desenvolvidas durante o estágio curricular em clínica de pequenos animais e, especialmente, dissertar sobre aspectos relacionados com a componente de captura de espécies selvagens, parte integrante do mesmo estágio, realizado entre Outubro de 2010 e Janeiro de 2011 em Windhoek, Namíbia, com a colaboração da empresa de captura e transporte de animais selvagens Super Game Dealers e da clínica veterinária Rhino Park Veterinary Clinic. O propósito do estágio assentou, essencialmente, na prática e consolidação das matérias adquiridas ao longo de cinco anos de curso, no conhecimento de algumas espécies de mamíferos selvagens do sudoeste africano, na melhor forma de gestão das populações destes animais, incluindo captura e transporte, e na execução adequada das intervenções clínicas mais comuns. Actualmente, já existe uma colecção bibliográfica referente a esta matéria, considerada ampla, da qual é feita uma pequena revisão na presente monografia; ### ABSTRACT – Wildlife Capture in Southwest Africa The present work has the purpose of mentioning some of the activities undertaken during the internship in small animal medicine and particularly explain certain aspects related to the component of wildlife care and capture, which was part of the same traineeship, held between October 2010 and January 2011 in Windhoek, Namibia, in collaboration with the company of capture and transport of wild animals Super Game Dealers and Rhino Park Veterinary Clinic. The purpose of this training was basically to practice and consolidate the matters assimilated over five years of study, to learn about some species of wild mammals in Southwestern Africa, and also the best way to manage populations of these animals, including capture and transport, and proper implementation of the most common clinical interventions. Currently there is plenty literature, available related to this subject. In this paper, it is only made a small review of the existing literature.
