Origens e influências orientais no tapete de Arraiolos: contributo para a sua musealização

Abstract

Segundo a historiografia dos tapetes bordados de Arraiolos, é ideia aceite que a pré-esquematização do desenho e a decoração dos exemplares mais antigos são herdeiras da tradição dos tapetes de nós que Portugal importou do Oriente no dealbar da Idade Moderna. Com a presente dissertação, pretende-se, numa primeira parte, contribuir para esta temática através do estudo desses tapetes orientais. A sua história, técnicas e decoração, e, depois, a sua chegada, divulgação e utilização em território português. A segunda parte da dissertação é dedicada ao estudo das origens, características técnicas e decorativas e à historiografia alusiva à influência oriental dos tapetes de Arraiolos. Por fim, serão apresentadas as considerações finais sobre a influência concreta que os tapetes orientais terão tido sobre os mais antigos tapetes arraiolenses. Pretende-se, assim, dar um contributo às práticas de estudo, investigação, incorporação, interpretação, exposição e educação museológica a adoptar no Centro Interpretativo do Tapete de Arraiolos; ABSTRACT: According to Arraiolos rug historiography, we may believe that the drawing pre- schematization and the more ancient pattern’s adornment are both heirs from the knotted-pile rugs tradition which Portugal had brought from Orient at Modern Age eve. With this thesis it’s supposed, previously, to contribute to this thematic through the study of these oriental knotted-pile rugs. Its history, techniques, decoration and following arrival, disclosure and use in Portuguese dominion. The second part is concerned to the origins study, technical and decorative features and also to the historiography related to Arraiolos rugs oriental influence. Finally, the ultimate considerations on the factual influence by oriental knotted-pile rugs in the ancient Arraiolos rugs will be presented. The main purpose is to give a contribute, in order to decide which practices of study, investigation, incorporation, interpretation, exhibition as well as museum education are the best to adopt at the Arraiolos Rugs Interpretive Center.
