Memórias de água e pedra: o Morro da Pena Ventosa

Abstract

O centro da Cidade do Porto foi outrora localizado no Morro da Penaventosa, local onde a própria urbe se originou. Ao redor desta formação geológica existe uma bacia hidrográfica cujas dinâmicas atuam à escala da cidade, para lá dos limites do antigo burgo. Este trabalho foca-se em várias escalas de interpretação da paisagem, recorrendo a uma estrutura de três partes não isoladas. Primeiro, uma exploração teórica que procura integrar conhecimentos de Urbanismo, Estética, Património e Paisagem. Segundo, uma pesquisa e posterior análise dos lugares da baixa do Porto que são atravessados ou adjacentes ao Rio da Vila e sucessivamente ao Morro da Penaventosa, desde observação in situ à procura de documentação. Terceiro, uma fase de interpretação que seguirá as dinâmicas do lugar e que culminará na elaboração de uma representação gráfica que retrate a área-estudo. Ao longo da sua elaboração foi aplicado um método que converge uma investigação do contexto físico e histórico, a diferentes escalas e com diversas temporalidades, recorrendo aos fundamentos teóricos que impulsionam um processo de reflexão que vai para lá do óbvio; - ABSTRACT: Memory of Water and Stone: the Hill of Penaventosa - Porto's city centre had been located at the Hill of Penaventosa, the site where the medieval burg was originated. Surrounding hydrographic basin whose dynamics happen at the level of the city, far beyond the context of the old town. This work focus itself on the various scales of landscape interpretation, following a connected, three part structure. Firstly, a theoretical exploration which aims at integrating the knowledge from the fields of urbanism. Aesthetics, Heritage and Landscape. Secondly, a research, and later analysis, into the places from downtown Porto which are crossed by or adjacent to Da Vila river and subsequently to the Hill of Penaventosa, from in situ observations to archival search. Thirdly, a last phaseof interpreting which will follow the dynamics of the place and which will culminate into a graphical representation which portraits the area in study in a new light. Throughout the elaboration of the work a method converging the investigation of the physical and historical context, in different scales and in varied temporalities, makes use of the theoretical base to develop a process of reflection which goes beyond the obvious.
