Para além das mãos: a expressão não manual na língua de sinais portuguesa

Abstract

A Língua Gestual Portuguesa (LGP) ou Língua de Sinais Portuguesa (LSP) é a língua utilizada em território nacional pela comunidade surda, constituída não só por pessoas surdas, mas também por todos aqueles que, de alguma forma, usam a língua quer por motivos profissionais, quer familiares. Os inúmeros gestos/sinais que constituem a língua são, à semelhança do que acontece com todas as línguas naturais, constituídos por unidades mínimas que são designadas como queremas. Neste trabalho pretendemos estudar detalhadamente um desses queremas: a Expressão Não Manual (ENM) e perceber como é que ela se manifesta na LSP. Assim, neste trabalho pretendemos explanar e distinguir as diferentes formas/distribuições que a ENM pode assumir dentro da LSP. Observaremos o valor querológico, morfológico e suprassegmental. Para tal, foi feita recolha de dados através de plataformas digitais e, posto isso, foram discutidas hipóteses e formulações de propostas junto de nativos surdos e de profissionais da área da interpretação, tendo em conta o seu conhecimento linguístico. Por fim, categorizamos os diferentes tipos de ENM e descreveremos os seus contextos de uso bem como os valores gramaticais que se manifestam; Abstract: Beyond hands: non-manual markers in Portuguese Sign Language The Portuguese Sign Language (PSL) is the language used in the national territory by the deaf community, which is composed not only by deaf people, but also by all those who, in some way, use the language either for professional or family reasons. The innumerable gestures/signs that constitute the language are, just like what happens with all natural languages, constituted by minimal units that are designated as cherems. In this work we intend to study in detail one of these questions: Non-Manual Expression (NME) and understand in what ways it is present in PSL. Therefore, in this work we intend to explain and distinguish the different forms/distributions that ENM can take within the LSP. We will observe the cherological, morphological and suprasegmental value. To this end, data was collected through digital platforms and, therefore, hypotheses and proposals formulations were discussed with deaf natives and also with professionals in the field of interpretation, considering their linguistic background and knowledge. Ultimately, we categorize the different types of ENM and describe their contexts of use as well as the grammatical values that are manifested.
