Peuplement du Gharb al-Andalus pendant la période émirale. Éléments pour une étude comparative avec l’Afrique du nord

Abstract

Although there is still little information on the settlement of the “emiral” period in Garb al-Andalus,some general patterns of evolution have been pointed out that are being nuanced and supplemented by data from preventive archeology related to large public undertakings. In addition to the continuities and transformations that a considerable number of Roman villae underwent, there are some data relating to the fortified rural settlement, some groups of small rural settlements, with special emphasis on the Beja kūra, a certain cave settlement detected in the Serra da Arrábida and some structures ofa marked religious character that may correspond either to small rural mosques, or to structures related to the practice of ribāṭ.
