Selecção sexual

Abstract

Definindo-se Ecologia Humana como o estudo das inter-relações do Homem com o meio em que vive, poucos temas nos parecem tão relevantes nesta área como o comportamento sexual humano. De facto, desse comportamento poderá resultar um bom ou mau equilíbrio entre o Homem e a natureza. Mas, para melhor se entender um comportamento, há que conhecer a sua origem evolutiva, isto é, conhecer a transformação desse comportamento no decorrer dos tempos. Daí o tema do presente trabalho: selecção sexual. Assim, iremos ver a evolução sexual através dos tempos, abordando temas tais como a selecção natural e a selecção sexual. Incluiremos também uma secção sobre modelos matemáticos para a selecção sexual e uma secção onde serão apresentados e analisados os resultados de um inquérito realizado aos alunos da Universidade de Évora sobre as suas preferências no que toca à selecção sexual. /***Abstract - Being Human Ecology the study of the inter-relations between humans and their environment, few subjects seem so relevant in this arca as the human sexual behaviour. In fact, that behavior can lead to a good or a bad equilibrium between mankind and nature. To better understand a behavior, one needs to know its evolutionary origin, that is, its transformation through time. This is the reason for the choice of this thesis' subject: sexual selection. So, we will follow the sexual evolution through time, considering subjects like natural selection and sexual selection. We will also include a section on mathematical models of sexual selection and section where we will present and analise the results of a survey on the students of the University of Évora concerning their sexual selection preferences.
