Reação das familias ao diagnóstico da criança com pertubações do espectro do autismo: um estudo exploratório

Abstract

As Perturbações do espectro do Autismo (PEA) são perturbações do desenvolvimento caracterizadas por um leque de sintomas específicos. Ao nível das causas ainda muito continua por descobrir. Normalmente não existe nada no aspeto da pessoa que a diferencie dos demais, havendo diferenças significativa ao nível da comunicação, comportamento e aprendizagem em relação aos outros. Neste estudo pretendeu-se atingir vários objetivos, entre os quais: perceber quando e quais foram os sinais que alertaram para a diferença; quem fez e de que forma foi transmitido o diagnóstico; quais os sentimentos da família predominantes neste percurso; que apoios e limitações existiram e existem para estas famílias e ainda, perceber que alterações ocorreram na família. Os dados forma obtidos através de uma entrevista semiestruturada, cujo guião foi construído para o efeito, tendo sido analisados através da técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os participantes deste estudo foram 14 pais (13 mães e 1 pai) de crianças com PEA residentes nos mais variados pontos do país. Os resultados revelaram que não é fácil chegar à perceção das diferenças numa fase muito precoce, uma vez que a maioria nota que os filhos têm algo que os diferencia na altura em que eles deveriam começar a interagir, comunicar e aprender. Apontam ainda para que um dos grandes fatores que interfere na adaptação às PEA é a forma como é dada a notícia e a falta de apoio e esclarecimento que lhes são prestados nessa altura e dai para a frente; ### Abstract: Reaction of the families to diagnosis of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders : an exploratory study The Autistic spectrum Disorders (SAEs) are developmental disorders characterized by a range of specific symptoms. The results revealed that it is not easy to reach the lack of differences at a very early stage, since most note that the kids have something that sets them apart when they should begin to interact, communicate and learn. Point to one of the major factors that interfere in the adaptation to the PEA is the way the news is given and the lack of support and clarification provided to them at that time and so forth.
