Abstract

O presente relatório foi realizado após a realização do estágio curricular incluído no plano curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária na Universidade de Évora. O estágio foi realizado no Hospital Veterinário do Restelo, em Lisboa, entre 3 de setembro de 2018 e 3 de março de 2019. A primeira parte deste trabalho trata-se de um resumo das atividades desenvolvidas durante o estágio e também acerca da casuística do hospital. A monografia tem como tema a doença do disco intervertebral em cães. A doença do disco intervertebral é uma das doenças mais relevantes na área de neurologia em animais de companhia, sendo o tratamento dispendioso e demorado. A apresentação clínica varia consoante a região da coluna afetada e também de acordo com o tipo de lesão discal e severidade da compressão medular; Small animal medicine and surgery ABSTRACT: The present report follows the internship of the master´s degree in veterinary medicine of Universidade de Évora, performed at Restelo´s veterinary hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, between September 3th of 2018 and March 3th of 2019. The first part briefly describes the activities and the clinical cases accompanied during the length of the internship. The second component includes the monography about “Intervertebral Disk Disease in dogs”. The Intervertebral Disk Disease is the most frequent lesion of the spinal cord in dogs, for that reason, it´s a very important disease in veterinary neurology. The treatment is long and expensive and the clinical presentacion are different according to the locations of the Disk herniation.
