A= 56,1 ± 28,1s; B= 59,8 ± 34,1s; C= 56,9 ± 30,3s); ### Abstract: Undernutrition effect in tolerance to a bitter taste in sheep The nutritional status of sheep on extensive management, varies throughout the year related to the quality and quantity of natural pastures, which can produce weight loss. It is expected that these variations lead to changes in intake behavior of the animals and their feed preferences. This study aimed to understand how variations in the nutritional status of the sheep may change their intake behaviour and taste sensitivity. In this way, we studied the microstructure of intake in three groups of sheep, linking different reproductive and nutritional status: pregnant under maintenance (GM), pregnant under restriction (GR) and non-pregnant under maintenance (NGM). It was also tested their behavioural response resulting from the ingestion of feed treated only with ethanol and the same kind of feed treated with two different intensity levels of bitter taste (5% and 15% ethanol quinine solution). It was found that the intake behaviour, according the tree feed treatments and evaluated through Total Intake Duration, was significantly different between GR group and the others (GM= 53,8 ± 2,5s; GR= 71,0 ± 2,5s; NGM= 48,1 ± 2,5s). No significant differences were observed among behavioral responses for the three different feed treatments (A= 56,1 ± 28,1s; B= 59,8 ± 34,1s; C= 56,9 ± 30,3s), irrespective the group.por
