Promoção da saúde oral nas crianças do 1º Ciclo de um Concelho do Algarve

Abstract

Introdução: A Promoção da Saúde Oral, encontra-se contemplada como um problema prioritário no Plano Local de Saúde, da zona em estudo. A Promoção da Saúde Oral torna-se, deste modo, fundamental na capacitação de hábitos e conhecimentos da comunidade. Objetivo: Promover hábitos saudáveis sobre saúde oral nas crianças que frequentam o 1.º ciclo, num concelho do Algarve. Método: Foi implementado um projeto de intervenção comunitária, tendo como referência a Metodologia do Planeamento em Saúde. O projeto incidiu nos alunos do 1.º ciclo. Os instrumentos de recolha de dados permitiram conhecer os hábitos e conhecimentos da comunidade em estudo, assim como delinear uma melhor estratégia de intervenção. Resultados: Constatou-se, numa primeira fase, o défice de conhecimentos e hábitos inadequados nas crianças, tendo havido uma melhoria após a intervenção do projeto. Conclusão: A Promoção da Saúde Oral melhorou os conhecimentos e hábitos nas crianças em estudo; PROMOTION OF ORAL HEALTH IN CHILDREN FROM THE 1ST CYCLE AT ALGARVE COUNTY ABSTRACT: Introduction: Oral Health Promotion is considered a priority problem in the Local Health Plan of the area under study. Thus, Oral Health Promotion becomes fundamental in the empowerment of habits and knowledge of the community. Objective: To promote healthy habits regarding oral health among children attending the 1st cycle in a municipality of the Algarve. Method: A community intervention project was implemented, with reference to the Health Planning Methodology. The project focused on 1st cycle students. The data collection instruments allowed to know the habits and knowledge of the community under study, as well as to outline a better intervention strategy. Results: It was found, in a first phase, the deficit of knowledge and inadequate habits in children, and there was an improvement after the project intervention. Conclusion: Oral Health Promotion improved the knowledge and habits in the children under study.
