Os meus álbuns de família: a memória ao serviço da identidade nas dinâmicas sociais do mundo contemporâneo

Abstract

Este trabalho de projeto tem por objeto de estudo as famílias contemporâneas e o impacto das suas vivências e das histórias passadas nas gerações atuais e vindouras. Incide-se não nas questões familiares, mas sim na forma como estas são experienciadas e guardadas na memória, uma busca pela identidade individual e coletiva da família. Partindo da prática artística, mas também de uma perspetiva histórico-sociológica abordam-se as diferentes composições familiares e a sua alteração ao longo dos tempos. No campo artístico, Jana Romanova e Matías Costa recordam os álbuns de família e a árvore genealógica para representar a família e a sua composição. Numa breve pesquisa sobre a arte contemporânea, artistas como Rirkrit Tiravanija, Christian Boltanski e Mary Kelly ajudam a clarificar os conceitos de arte relacional, arte de memória e produção afetiva e analítica. Através das suas obras, Daniel Blaufuks, Catarina Mourão e Délio Jasse permitem um olhar sobre a temática de arquivo e memória, relacionando-a com uma identidade individual e coletiva. Recorrendo ao meu arquivo familiar e sob a forma de instalação, fotografia, áudio e vídeo, fiz a recolha de memórias e a representação esquematizada da minha família, dando uma nova vida a imagens e objetos esquecidos, reapresentando-os. Pela imaginação, a fotografia torna-se potenciadora de novas histórias. O vídeo, que procura envolver o observador, retrata e expõe as falhas da memória. Estes nomes e estas memórias são assim, não apenas um trabalho de artista, mas, essencialmente, um trabalho da família sobre a qual incide; ABSTRACT: My family albums: memory at the service of identity in the social dynamics of the contemporary world This project work aims to study contemporary families and the impact of their experiences and past histories on current and future generations. It focuses not on family issues, but on how they are experienced and kept in memory, a search for the individual and collective identity of the family. Starting from artistic practice, but also from a historical-sociological perspective, the different family compositions and their changes over time are approached. In the artistic field, Jana Romanova and Matías Costa remember the family albums and the genealogical tree to represent the family and its composition. In a brief survey of contemporary art, artists such as Rirkrit Tiravanija, Christian Boltanski and Mary Kelly help to clarify the concepts of relational aesthetic, memory art and affective and analytical production. Through their works, Daniel Blaufuks, Catarina Mourão and Délio Jasse, allow a look at the theme of archive and memory, relating it to an individual and collective identity. Using my family archive and by the form of an artistic installation, photography, audio and video, I collected memories and made a schematic representation of my family, giving new life to forgotten images and objects, re-presenting them. Imagination gives a photograph its story telling potential. The video, which seeks to involve the observer, portrays and exposes the flaws in memory. These names and memories are thus not only the work of an artist, but essentially a family work on which it focuses.
