Mancala e sua utilização didáctica

Abstract

Este trabalho contribui para uma reflexão em torno dos jogos, em particular os Jogos Mancala. Numa primeira parte faz-se uma abordagem dos conceitos de jogar, jogo e Jogo Matem ático, e são apresentadas possíveis classificações de jogo. Faz-se também uma breve referência aos Campeonatos Nacionais de Jogos Matemáticos. Numa segunda parte faz-se uma abordagem histórica dos Jogos Mancala e são descritas e analisadas as regras de duas das suas variantes: Bao e Omweso. Os Jogos Mancala são uma excelente família de jogos que podem ser utilizados na sala de aula para desenvolvimento de inúmeras capacidades, nomeadamente o cálculo mental. Numa terceira parte são descritas e analisadas as regras de uma outra variante dos Jogos Mancala, o Ouri, e apresenta-se um Estudo Estatístico com o qual se pretende identificar a existência ou não de uma correlação entre a capacidade de desenvolver o cálculo mental e a prática de Ouri; ABSTRACT: The present work has the purpose of contributing to a reflection around the subject game, in particular the Mancala Games. The first part approaches the concepts of playing, game, and mathematical game, and several possible classifications are presented as well as its contribution to the teaching/ learning process. There is also a brief reference to the National Championships of Mathematical Games. The second part is about the historical approach of the Mancala Games and the rules of two of its variants are described and analised: Bao and Omweso. These are an excellent variety of games that can be used in a classroom. The third part describes and analises the rules of another variant of the Mancala Games, the Ouri, and a statistical study is presented that aims to identify the existence of a correlation between the ability to develop mental calculation and the practice of Ouri.
