The vineyard (Vitis vinifera L.) is one of the main agriculture crops in Portugal. The Powdery Mildew of the grapevine, caused by Erysiphe necator Schwein occurs in the whole world and it is one of the two cryptogamic diseases of the crop. The purpose of the present study is to characterize the phenotypes of the main Portuguese varieties as far as the susceptibility/tolerance to Powdery Mildew is concerned. The results of the study allowed the drafting of a scale of susceptibility to Powdery Mildew, according to the descriptors 455; 455 – 1 and 456 of OIV. The characterization of the susceptibility may help to reduce the use of fungicides with effect on the environment and reduced production costs. It is concluded that approximately half of the varieties 44,12%, fit in scale 3 and are characterized by presenting in its majority susceptibility to Powdery Mildew. The Regent variety that corresponds to scale 7, stands out as the most tolerant in the total of varieties, being that there was no variety belonging to scale 9.por
