A teoria do ”Universo em Expansão”de J. L. Fiori: uma hipótese de leitura da instabilidade global contemporânea

Abstract

A escalada nas tensões internacionais observada na atualidade revela um cenário que remete a momentos históricos em que o aumento da competição e o acirramento dos conflitos militares levaram a uma perigosa espiral de disputa entre as grandes potências do sistema interestatal; o que posteriormente resultou em consequências nefastas para toda a humanidade (MACMILLAN, 2014, 396). Neste contexto, o aumento das rivalidades geopolíticas observado na atualidade entre as grandes potências do sistema internacional, em particular os Estados Unidos, a Rússia e a China, assim como, a própria instabilidade global resultante disso, despertam uma legítima inquietação a respeito das motivações de tal cenário e os possíveis meios de contenção do mesmo (HICKS et al., 2021). Partindo desta premissa, este trabalho buscará esmiuçar e avaliar a aplicabilidade da Teoria do Universo em Expansão, desenvolvida pelo investigador brasileiro José Luís Fiori, como instrumento de compreensão analítica a partir da perspectiva da disputa pelo poder global e em confronto com as teorias sobre hegemonia desenvolvidas por investigadores da escola realista das Relações Internacionais; - Abstract: J. L Fiori´s “Expanding Universe” theory: a hypotesis for reading contemporary global instability. The escalation in international tensions observed today reveals a scenario that harks back to historical moments in which the increase in competition and the intensification of military conflicts led to a dangerous spiral of disputes between the great powers of interstate system; which subsequently result in harmful consequences for all of humanity. In this context, the increase in geopolitical rivalries observed today between the great powers of the international system, in particular the United States, Russia and China, as well as resulting instability, arouse legitimating concern about the motivations for this scenario and the possible means of containing it. Based on this premise, this work will seek to scrutinize and evaluate the applicability of the Expanding Universe Theory, developed by Brazilian researcher José Luís Fiori, as tool of analytical understanding from the perspective of the dispute of global power and in confrontation with the theories of hegemony developed by researchers from realist school of International Relations.
