Queratoconjuntivite seca em canídeos

Abstract

O presente relatório surge no seguimento do estágio curricular do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária, realizado nas clínicas CuraeVet Estremoz e Vila Viçosa entre dezanove de setembro de 2022 e cinco de fevereiro de 2023. A primeira parte deste relatório descreve, de maneira concisa, as atividades desenvolvidas e a casuística acompanhada durante o período de estágio. A segunda parte do relatório consiste numa revisão bibliográfica alusiva ao tema “Queratoconjuntivite Seca”, suportada pela apresentação de um estudo retrospetivo de vinte cinco casos clínicos, onde a grande maioria dos animais afetados apresentou melhorias clínicas. A Queratoconjuntive Seca é uma das afeções oculares mais comuns e frequentemente diagnosticada em cães. Caracteriza-se por uma afeção inflamatória da superfície ocular e é causada pela deficiência de um ou mais componentes do filme lacrimal, culminando em olho seco, inflamação da conjuntiva e da córnea, dor ocular, doença progressiva da córnea e, consequentemente, comprometimento da visão; - Abstract: Keratoconjunctivitis sicca in canids - This report follows the curricular internship of the Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, which took place at the CuraeVet Estremoz and Vila Viçosa clinics between September 19th, 2022 and February 5th, 2023. The first part of this report concisely describes the activities carried out and the caseload monitored during the internship period. The second part of the report consists of a literary review on the subject of "Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca", supported by the retrospective study of twenty five clinical cases, where the vast majority of affected animals displayed clinical improvement. Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca is one of the most common and frequently diagnosed ocular disorders in dogs. It is characterized by an inflammatory condition of the ocular surface and is caused by a deficiency of one or more components of the tear film, culminating in dry eye, inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea, ocular pain, progressive corneal disease and, consequently, impaired vision.
