Abstract

The remote sensing of the cloud optical and microphysical properties from solar reflection and emission measurements is exceedingly important for an improved understanding of the Earth’s climate system, since clouds are a strong modulator of the shortwave and longwave components of the Earth’s radiation budget (King et al. 1992).
