Atitudes dos alentejanos face ao suicídio

Abstract

O presente estudo teve como objetivo conhecer as atitudes de permissividade e de incompreensibilidade dos alentejanos face ao suicídio, analisando-as em função de algumas variáveis sociodemográficas e clínicas. Foi ainda estudada uma possível relação entre estas atitudes e o risco suicidário. As atitudes do Alentejo foram comparadas às de outras regiões portuguesas, verificando-se se estariam relacionadas com as respetivas taxas de suicídio. Para tal foi aplicado um questionário sociodemográfico, o Questionário de Atitudes de Permissividade e Incompreensibilidade face ao Suicídio (QAPIS) e o Questionário de Comportamentos Suicidários - Revisto (QCS-R) numa amostra de 371 participantes. Os resultados indicaram diferenças significativas em algumas variáveis estudadas relativamente às duas atitudes, e uma relação entre elas e o risco suicidário. Verificou-se a existência de um padrão entre as atitudes das regiões portuguesas analisadas e as respetivas taxas de suicídio. Estas conclusões salientam a importância do papel das atitudes no fenómeno suicidário; Attitudes of Alentejo people towards Suicide Abstract: This study aimed to know the attitudes of permissiveness and incomprehensibility of Alentejo people towards suicide, analyzing them according to some sociodemographic and clinical variables. A possible relationship between these attitudes and suicidal risk was also studied. The attitudes of Alentejo were compared to those of other portuguese regions, in order to check if they were related to the respective suicide rates. To this end, a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Questionário de Atitudes de Permissividade e Incompreensibilidade face ao Suicídio (QAPIS) and the Suicidal Behavior Questionnaire - Revised (SBQ-R) was applied in a sample of 371 participants. The results indicated significant differences in some of the studied variables regarding the two attitudes, and a relationship between them and suicidal risk. There was a pattern between the attitudes of the portuguese regions analysed and the respective suicide rates. These conclusions highlight the importance of the role of attitudes in the suicidal phenomenon.
